Candidates for the Database Administrator - Tier 3 role need a strong technical foundation in database structure, configuration, installation, operation and maintenance with experience designing databases. Candidates must have knowledge and experience in major relational database languages and applications, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and IBM DB2. On-Call support will be required to provide expert recommendations for trouble-shooting issues
Database Administrator - Tier 3 candidates must demonstrate the ability to pay keen attention to detail, possess a strong customer service orientation and have the ability to work as part of a team while having leadership responsibilities for that team. This position will provide Microsoft SQL and Oracle DBA support services, to include Tier 3 level expertise, as well as the planning, implementation, and monitoring of patching services for physical and virtual solutions. Strong oral and written communications skills are critical to this position.
The Database Administrator - Tier 3 must be able to produce visualization of data for leadership decision-making, have knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming languages (such as Java, C or .NET) and understand the transactional processes of the ITIL framework.
Candidate must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (2013/2016)
Managing, monitoring and maintaining databases
Approving requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data
Ensuring database integrity, stability and system availability
Approving solutions for database backup and recovery infrastructure
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database
Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement
Ensuring proactive engagement in Incident Management process, working with cross-functional teams to minimize the impact of database outages
Generating various reports by querying from database as needed
Typically has an AS degree in a computer or system science discipline and eight (8) years of relevant industry experience with Oracle database administration. Progressive relevant training and/or certification may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement. Should have a general understanding of relational database concepts and networking concepts, specifically in a client/server architecture in a SQL \
- Net TCP/IP environment. Must have experience in various backup and recovery scenarios, including archiving, import/export, etc. Proficiency with performance tuning of Oracle database and supporting mission critical production systems is essential.
2 years of experience as a Tier 3 Database Administrator.
Required Certification: Employment is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining required certifications.
Oracle Certified (OCP), MySQL 5.6 DBA or MCSE: Data Management & Analytics
DOD 8570 IAT Level II or higher
- Work will be performed inside a large facility. Work assignments vary based on client requirements. Position could require some night and weekend work.
- Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
Equipment and Machines:
- General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. It is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).
On-Call support will be required to provide expert recommendations for trouble-shooting issues
- Continental and Oversees travel may be required. It is important to maintain a current passport.

Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Grooming and dress usually business casual, but dependent on client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
