JOB SUMMARY:

The Histology Technician (HT) processes, embeds and sections Surgical Pathology cases. The HT performs routine, special and immunohistochemistry stains. Mounts, labels and distributes microscopy slides to the Pathologists. Completes and maintains PM/QC records. Performs general preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or foreign equivalent

Two years of experience

Minimum of 2 years' experience working under a Qualified Director of Pathology

Knowledge of Laboratory equipment and apparatus

General knowledge of a variety of standard tests and techniques, methods and procedures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's Degree in Histology

4 years of experience

National Board Certification or Equivalent (Histology)
