The role of Marketing Strategy Manager will be to lead the strategic initiatives that will position the Petco enterprise as the leading omnichannel pet retailer and the most happy, friendly and trustworthy partner to help pet parents create the best lives for their pets.
Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Develop the Marketing Strategy based on the customer, business goals and customer. Work cross-functionally to define measurable objectives, Strategy and deliverables, determine the omnichannel approach and identify the appropriate media mix and messaging to bring these to life for the customer.
Oversee development and delivery of Marketing Strategy and plans for short- and long-range planning purposes, constantly reporting on metrics and driving transformation by leveraging data.
Oversee the creation of integrated plans across all channels and functions focusing on a seamless customer experience. Requires strong leadership, strategic vision, a focus on tactical integration and measurable results.
Own annual brand storytelling strategy, clearly defining messaging and timing. Define communication hierarchy and implementation with cross functional teams integrating promotional and enterprise promotional Strategy to drive sales and traffic.
Identify new opportunities through the use of customer insights, market research and competitive intelligence. Develop, direct, and ensure an integrated activation of the Marketing Strategy to maximize Petco's sales, profits, engagement and loyalty.
Leverage the promotional planning process to ensure that communications and programs are consistent with the Petco brand identity and voice to position Petco as happy, friendly and trustworthy to build our customer base and loyalty.
The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards. Minor local travel by automobile to vendors or agencies may be required. Also periodic attendance at appropriate marketing conferences (media, digital media) that help to keep you knowledgeable about the latest thinking and technology and to share best practices with other colleagues.
The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, management, supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to listen, synthesize, lead, explain and communicate at all levels will be critical. A bachelor's degree and at least five years as a business, marketing or merchandising leader in a comparable sized organization or equivalent experience developing and executing strategic initiatives (e.g., management consultant) in a larger organization is required. This position is deadline intensive and requires the ability to gracefully and seamlessly handle multiple tasks and while simultaneously being highly visible.
